After embarking in a career in aerospace engineering, I pursued an MBA from the University of Aberdeen Business School . It completely changed my professional outlook and I developed an interest in environmental policy and management.

My research focuses on ecological modernisation, environmental / waste policy and legislation, corporate responsibility, environmental / waste   management, industrial ecology, industrial symbioisis. At present, I am registered for a PhD that focuses on evaluating the National Industrial Symbiosis Programme in the United Kingdom. Please see the link "Current Project" for further details.

I am an Associate Lecturer for various Business and Management courses in the Open University Business School  (OUBS). I work in partnership with a Swiss company "Ecointesys - Life Cycle Systems" with expertise in LCA & Water Footprinting. I also lecture and tutor on graduate and postgraduate courses offered within the Aberdeen Business School (ABS) at the Robert Gordon University (RGU). I teach Leadership and Strategic Management; Performance, Planning and Decision Making at postgraduate level; and Business Policy, Management Concepts and Business Enterprise Skills at graduate level. I also act in the capacity of Advisor of Studies for BA Management Programme at RGU. I serve on RGU internal boards: RGU Research and Knowledge Transfer Committee , RGU Research Student/Staff Liaison Sub-Committee , RGU Environmental Management Systems & Auditing Group , and RGU Waste Management Group .

I am a member of the following professional institutions: Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM), Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), International Society for Industrial   Ecology (ISIE)   and   Business Environment Partnership (BEP). I sit on the  steering group of IEMA and the CIWM new generation group in the North of Scotland. I am a member of the Waste Management Cross Party Group in the Scottish Parliament. I also act in the capacity of PR chair for the International Society for Industrial Ecology Student Chapter, co-editor of the ISIE newsletter and the reviewer for the Journal of Industrial Ecology (JIE). Currently, I am guest editing a special issue "Industrial symbiosis/ecology" of the Business Strategy and the Environment Journalwith a colleague at the Robert Gordon University.                

I am married to Snow, who is very caring and also very supportive of my work. She works as a Territory Cash Flow Leader for Scotland, for Unipart Group of Companies in the UK.
