After embarking in a career in aerospace engineering, I pursued an MBA from the University of Aberdeen Business School where I developed an interest in environmental policy and management.
My research focuses on ecological modernisation, environmental / waste policy and legislation, corporate responsibility, environmental / waste management, eco-industrial development, industrial symbioisis. At present, I am registered for a PhD that focuses on evaluating the National Industrial Symbiosis Programme in the United Kingdom. Please see the link "Research" for further details.
I am a member of the following professional institutions: Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM), Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), International Society for Industrial Ecology (ISIE) and Business Environment Partnership (BEP). I sit on the steering group of IEMA and the CIWM new generation group in the North of Scotland. I am a member of the Waste Management Cross Party Group in the Scottish Parliament. I also act in the capacity of a reviewer for the Journal of Industrial Ecology (JIE), Environmental Science & Technology, Journal of Cleaner Production etc. Currently, I am guest editing a special issue of Journal of Industrial Ecology on "Industrial symbiosis" with Dr. Shi Han & Dr. Donald Lyons. I am also a member of the editorial board for the journal "Business Strategy and the Environment"
I am married to Snow, who is very caring and also very supportive of my work. She works as an Accountant for Enquest Dons Ltd.in the UK.
