Copenhagen Climate Conference: Here is how we can be a part of it (in Scotland)

Friends of the Earth Scotland has decided to support the Scottish Climate Change march in Glasgow city centre. This march is to take place prior to the agreements for the emissions reduction at the Copenhagen Conference on 5th December 2009. It is to ensure that the world leaders understand the urgent need to take radical action to tackle climate change

Not everyone is entitled to attend the conference in Copenhagen but this is one way we all could influence the decisions. However, on the other hand, Friends of the Earth Scotland is also provisionally planning to take supporters to the Copenhagen to take part in a peaceful demo to call for urgent action (10-13 December 2009). Let FOE Scotland know if you would like to join.

Visit FOE Scotland's event section for updated information.

Cheers

Copenhagen Climate Conference - Are we part of it?

The most talked event in the last few weeks around climate change has been the forthcoming Copenhagen Climate Conference 7-18 December 2009. There are strong views in support of: the need for ambitious, just and binding agreements; the need to base decisions on best possible knowledge, latest technologies / science etc.; the need to help the poorest and most vulnerable countries that are threatened the most etc.

Although not anyone and everyone can participate and / or observe the proceedings but we all can influence the decision / agreements by keeping everyone participating well informed and by providing support from all around the globe. Some ways in which we could keep our voices heard:

1.) Seal the deal UN Global Campaign

- Support by signing the Climate Petition

- Have your Say or read what others said

2.) Youth Action

3.) 350.org An international campaign

4.) Tck Tck Tck... The time is ticking for climate justice

5.) YouTube UK, the Copenhagen Climate Meeting and BBC Question Time (Represent the UK at the conference if you are aged between14-17)

Let's hope that the words of Connie Hedeghaard (Minister for Climate and Energy, Denmark) "We must move the world from an era of talk to the era of change" would be realised, and that the fair, balanced and effective climate agreement (Objective of the UN Seal the deal campaign) would be the outcome of this well awaited conference.

Do feel free to comment if you found the above useful and obviously it would be great to have any posts with more ideas, information and updates on how we can all be part of that very important agreement.

Cheers

Abhi
