Current Project:

Eco-industrial Development in the UK: A study of the National Industrial Symbiosis Programme from the National Policy and the Business Perspective

The aim of this project is twofold. Firstly, it aims to explore the national policy and regional context of the UK National Industrial Symbiosis Progarmme (NISP). Secondly. it evaluates the effectiveness of the National Industrial Symbiosis Progarmme from a Business Perspective, through a regional case study approach.

Evaluation of the effectiveness of NISP will reveal the extent to which industrial symbiosis programmes really do offer insights for the companies to understand the benefits and limitations of symbiotic relationship. The regional cases will offer insight about the best practices to operate industrial symbiosis networks. The outcomes of the research would also provide policy-makers with the information that would help them to see how the existing policies and regulations need to be modified and new policies and legislation put in place to allow the industrial ecology approach to be used effectively.
